The 40 Week Monster Cup Series Kobalt 400 race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway started with Matthew Gibbs capturing the pole and Matthew Siegl recording the fastest lap of the race. Jon Waters gained 12 spots for the most positions gained bonus. The race produced many close battles for position through the field with many position changes. Matthew Siegl led the most laps with 54, with Matthew Gibbs going on to take the win. This week the drivers displayed good communication, which resulted in 2 cautions with 14 lead changes and there were no disqualification with 6 disconnects in a 28 car field ending with Matthew Gibbs capturing his 1st win of the season with Matthew Siegl finishing 2nd, Mike Franklin 3rd and Kenney Kulikowski capturing 4th.
This week the Monster Cup Series goes to the Camping World 500k race at Phoenix Int’l Raceway with the current points leader Mike Schrader looking to find ways to maintain the lead in the series. The question is … can he hold off the charging Old Bastards?
