The Xfinity 40 Week Series DC Solar 200 race at Phoenix Int’l Raceway started with Jimmy Todd on the pole and Kent “Big Time” Connolly setting the fastest lap of the race. Rick Mason gained 11 spots for the most positions gained bonus. The race produced many close battles for position through the field with many position changes. Steven Thomson Driver of the #67 Ride TV Racing Toyota led the most laps with 52, going on to take the win. This week the drivers showed good communication, which resulted in 6 cautions with 11 lead changes and there were no disqualifications and 3 disconnect in a 22 car field The race ended with Steven Thomson capturing his 1st win of the season, Matthew Gibbs taking 2nd, Jimmy Todd in 3rd and Bruce Pearson nabbing 4th.
This week the Xfinity Series moves to the Service King 300 race at Auto Club Speedway with the current points leader Kent “Big Time” Connolly looking to maintain the lead in the series. The question is … can he hold off the charging Old Bastards?
We shall see when the green flag drops at 11:40 am Eastern time.
