The Old Bastards 40 Week Monster Cup STP 500 race at Martinsville Speedway started with Sam Maxwell capturing the pole and recording the fastest lap of the race. Sean Beyer gained 14 spots for the most positions gained bonus. The race produced many close battles for position through the field with many position changes. Sam Maxwell completely dominated the race by leading 244 laps, going on to take the win. This week the drivers were very aggressive, which resulted in 10 cautions with 8 lead changes and there was 1 disqualification with 8 disconnects in a 23 car field ending with Sam Maxwell capturing his 1st win of the season with Dan DeNayer finishing 2nd, Mike Schrader 3rd and Patrick Milligan capturing 4th.
This week the Monster Cup Series will be OFF next week with the current points leader Kenney Kulikowski looking to find ways to maintain the lead in the series. The question is … can he hold off the charging Old Bastards?
We shall see when the green flag drops at Texas Motor Speedway on April 8th 11:40 am Eastern time.
In the Cup Series point championship, Mike Schrader in 2nd, Sam Maxwell 3rd and Mike Franklin 4th and Joel Kilburn 5th place.
