The 40 Week Monster Cup Series Daytona 500 race at Daytona Int’l Speedway started with George Ballance Jr capturing the pole and Brian Warfel recording the fastest lap of the race. Steven Thomson gained 29 spots for the most positions gained bonus. The race produced many close battles for position through the field with many position changes. Sam Maxwell led the most laps with 62, with Mike Schrader Driver of the #4 Busch Beer Sponsored Mustang going on to take the win. This week the drivers displayed good communication, which resulted in 3 cautions with 9 lead changes and there were no disqualification with 10 disconnects in a 35 car field ending with Mike Schrader capturing his 1st win of the season with Steven Thomson racing the #67 Ride TV Racing finishing 2nd, Ken Huff 3rd and Dode Hoskins capturing 4th.
This week the Monster Cup Series goes to the Folds of Honor Quick Trip 500 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway with the current points leader Mike Schrader looking to find ways to maintain the lead in the series. The question is … can he hold off the charging Old Bastards?
