The Monster Cup Series Alabama 500 race at Talladega SuperSpeedway started with Mike Schrader capturing the pole and Kenney Kulikowski recording the fastest lap of the race. Bobby McCormick gained 10 spots for the most positions gained bonus. The race produced many close battles for position through the field with many position changes. Niels Clyde led the most laps with 29, with Bobby McCormick going on to capture the win. This week the drivers displayed good communication, which resulted in 2 cautions with 16 lead changes and there were no disqualification with 1 disconnect in a 11 car field ending with Bobby McCormick capturing his 1st win of his career and in the series with Dode Hoskins finishing 2nd, Dave Lesure 3rd and Niels Clyde capturing 4th.
This week the Cup Series moves to the Toyota Save Mart 350 race at Sonoma Raceway with the current points leader Steven Thomson #67 Ride TV Tundra looking to find ways to maintain the lead in the series. The question is … can he hold off the charging Old Bastards?

In the Cup Series point championship, Dode Hoskins in 2nd, Kenney Kulikowski 3rd and Bobby McCormick 4th and John Hastings in 5th place.
